Named GP

From April 2015 GP surgeries are required to allocate all patients with a named, accountable GP

What does this mean for patients?:

• Patients have a GP who will have overall responsibility for the care and support that the Surgery provides to them
• Having a named accountable GP does not prevent patients receiving care from another GP, the Practice Nurse or Health Care Assistant in the Surgery.
• The Practice cannot guarantee that patients will always receive care from their named GP, although the GPs will do their best to accommodate this where patients need to discuss an on-going problem

All patients are automatically allocated a named, accountable GP, and patients can contact the surgery should they wish to know who their named GP is.#

Patients can express a preference as to which GP is their named, accountable GP, and the Practice will make reasonable efforts to accommodate this request. Patients will need to contact the Surgery, and make an appointment to speak to the Business Manager or Assistant Manager to discuss their request.
